India vs IFD Agreement at WTO MC14
India strongly opposed the China-led Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement at WTO's 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said IFD risks eroding WTO's functional limits and foundational principles.
India opposed incorporating it as an Annex 4 Agreement (Plurilateral — binding only on accepting members).
India had similarly opposed it at MC13 in Abu Dhabi.
IFD is China-led; binding only on signatory members if passed.
India showed openness for discussions under the WTO Reform Agenda but stood firm on the core objection.
